Another wonderful result from my visit to the Las Vegas Souvenir & Gift Show, these stunning snow globes were commissioned by John and the team at the Pacific Whale Foundation in Hawaii.
I’m so proud of my involvement in making these snow globes for the Foundation, whose mission is to protect our oceans through science and advocacy. They accomplish this through ongoing research, education and conservation programs. In addition, their vision is to be the people’s environmental organization for the protection of the world’s whales, dolphins and other marine animals living wild in their natural habitat. What an honor it is for me to be supporting that goal through what I do.
Originally John and I worked on the idea of a Hawaiian mountain and ocean setting, with a whale coming out of the water, but we ended up changing to this sea turtle and coral design instead. I’m really glad we did, as the close-up sculpts of the sea turtles look really beautiful and detailed – I think it makes for a more interesting globe as a result.
This really is an amazing looking globe, as the colors are so rich and realistic. It also features iridescent glitter, rather than white snow, which gives a gorgeous “under the sea” look and feel when you shake it up.
You’ll have to visit the Pacific Whale Foundation in Wailuku if you want to buy one…half your luck!
